Let me share an illustration. I was talking with a preacher that wanted to have guest preacher come to their church. When the preacher (Preacher A) I was talking with began the process of asking the guest preacher (Preacher B) to visit, Preacher A had a hard time getting in contact with Preacher B. Eventually they got in contact, but the first contact made an impression that the Preacher B would never forget. When Preacher B contacted Preacher A, he was contacted by phone. Here is the phone call:
Phone rings…..
Preacher A: “Camel café, one hump or two”
Preacher B: “Yes…..May I please speak with Dr.________?”
Preacher A: “One hump or two”
Preacher B: “Dr._______, um, I believe that I have the wrong number”
…………
(After everything was squared away)
Preacher A: “I apologize for the misunderstanding, I thought you were somebody else”
Preacher B: “Well, first impressions are lasting impressions”
End of conversation
You can take that any way you want, the point I am trying to get across is that last statement by the guest preacher, “first impressions are lasting impressions”.
